WSA Mentoring Program returns for 2020

Women Sport Australia are excited to confirm the Women in Sport Mentoring Program is back for 2020 with workshops in Adelaide and Melbourne confirmed and planning underway for Sydney and Brisbane.

The Melbourne workshop will be held on Friday 27 March at the Tennis Victoria Offices and the Adelaide workshop will take place on Friday 13 March with the support of Sport South Australia and be held at their offices.

Over 100 women have taken part in the Women in Sport Mentoring Program over the last four years. The program is for women who work in sport and are early-mid career level with a desire to progress their career. Each participant attends a four-hour workshop and evening networking function and is then matched with a mentor who provides relevant career advice.

The program not only provides participants with a mentor, but also their own network of women who work in sport in similar positions to them who they connect with at the workshop and follow up networking events.

The Women in Sport Mentoring Program has been established in Melbourne and Sydney for several years and Women Sport Australia are relishing the opportunity to take the program to Adelaide and Brisbane in 2020.

President of WSA and facilitator of the Women in Sport Mentoring Program, Carol Fox, is thrilled to expand the program further around Australia.

“We can’t wait to see the talent that we encounter in Adelaide and Brisbane with our up and coming sports administrators and we hope to grow the program even further in future,” Fox said.

“We’ve had some of our past mentees progress forwards to amazing career opportunities within the sports industry inspired by the confidence they have gained from participating in our program.”

CEO of Sport SA Leah Cassidy thinks this program will provide a fantastic opportunity for females working in sport in South Australia.

“It’s great to be working with Women Sport Australia to bring this mentoring program to South Australia. We want to make sure that we are providing opportunities for women in sport to grow and develop, and this is the perfect program for that,” Cassidy said.

Details for the Adelaide and Melbourne Mentoring Programs can be found on the Women Sport Australia website and expressions of interest are also being taken for Sydney and Brisbane Programs.
