The Sports Bra Project CeleBRAtion lunch

We are delighted to invite you to our inaugural Sports Bra Project luncheon where we will raise money and collect bras to send to our sport loving sisters who need the right kit to get out and play.

Why? 2x more girls will drop out of sport by age 14 than boys, and by 17 years 50% of girls have dropped out of all sports. For those of us who have been lucky enough to enjoy the benefits of sports like friendship, mental wellness, healthy lifestyles and feeling good, we need to bust down all the barriers that are preventing girls and women from participating.

With the support of the USA head office Founder, Sarah Dwyer-Shick we ‘softly’ launched the Australian arm of the #thesportsbraproject, and we have already received sports bra donations from #berlei, #brooks, #runningbare, #jockey, #ausolympicteam, #NSWIS, #tribalsport, just to name a few.

Following these donations we have started shipping out sports bra gift boxes with our most challenging shipment being a box filled with NSWIS, Jockey and Tribal sports bras to the Warapiri Youth Development Community Centre – just 300 kms outside of Alice Springs!

Now we need more bras and funds to reach more communities. But hey what’s the point of just sending off a sports bra to a collection point. Instead bring your friends along to a fun-filled informal afternoon and meet fabulous sport loving people like Cate Campbell OAM, 4-times Olympian Champion.

You’ll also have an opportunity to chat with TSBP’s Ambassador Associate Professor Deirdre McGhee, B. App Sc (Phty), APA Sports Physiotherapist, Fellow Sports Medicine Australia, Faculty of Science Medicine and Health, University of Wollongong.

Deirdre co-founded Breast Research Australia (BRA) which aims to develop research, educational, commercial and clinical strategies to improve bra fit and design for all females from the fit and healthy to disease status.

Deirdre will showcase BRA’s Sports Bra App, which empowers women of all ages, breast sizes and activity levels to independently choose a sports bra design that provides adequate breast support and fits correctly so that all women can exercise in comfort.

Join us from 12pm-3.00pm at the newly opened Manly Pavilion on Wednesday 12th October. This heritage building is beautifully appointed and managed by The Boathouse Group and looks back across Sydney’s gorgeous harbour.

For those of you who have had the pleasure of going to a Boathouse event you know the food will be amazing as will the flowers, music and service. Oh and did we mention our friends at Mazi Wines will be providing their unique Australian Rosé and sharing with us the beauty of a glass or two of Mazi.
