Professional Athlete and Producer Chantella Perera joins WSA Board

Women Sport Australia (WSA), the peak independent body for women and girls in sport, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Chantella Perera.

The former WNBL, AFLW and VFLW player brings her unique insight and experience as a professional athlete to the board.

Chantella grew up in the South-East suburbs of Melbourne where she found her feet playing basketball in a career that took her all around Australia.

In 2017, she returned home to Melbourne to take up a spot playing with the Box Hill Hawks, joining the winning the 2018 VFLW Premiership team.

In 2019, Chantella moved across the country to Perth to join the inaugural West Coast Eagles AFLW team, staying with them for two seasons, all while producing content as a part of KOJO Sport’s Brand team.

Chantella now uses her skills as a professional athlete and producer to create engaging content and engage fans across different platforms with KOJO Sport.

The Women Sport Australia board is excited to bring Chantella onto the board as interest, coverage and demand for Women’s sport continues to grow.

“I am thrilled and humbled to be joining the team at Women Sport Australia. As a female athlete and professional in the industry, I am incredibly passionate about helping drive change for girls and women in sport.”

“The team at Women Sport Australia have a wonderful energy about them and their vision to help promote, support and influence equality in sport is well aligned with my goals. I am looking forward to bringing my perspective and experience on and off the field to the team and hope to help contribute to the exceptional work that Women Sport Australia are doing.”

President of Women Sport Australia Gen Dohrmann is delighted to welcome Chantella to the board.

“We are so excited to welcome Chantella to the WSA Board. Her background as an athlete, playing both WNBL and AFLW, will bring plenty of lived experience to the work we undertake and ensure we’re best representing the needs of sportswomen.”

“We’re also looking forward to tapping into Chantella’s corporate skill-set to improve how we engage with our audience and improve our content delivery.”
