Women Sport Australia President Gen Dohrmann attended the 8th IWG Women & Sport Conference held on the 14-17 November in Auckland which was the world’s largest gathering to advance gender equity and equality in sport and physical activity.

Below is a collection of observations made by a strong contingent of sport and active recreation representatives from across Australia, following more than 220 sessions and 500 speakers.

These observations represent opportunities, not criticisms, to accelerate progress in gender equality in sport and active recreation in Australia – a space where so much progress has been achieved and yet so much value is still to be unlocked, in what is one of our country’s most highly visible sectors and a critical driver of the health and wellbeing of all Australians.
