Women in Sport breakfast.

The Women in Sport Breakfast is Australia's biggest celebratory event championing equity for women and girls.

This year's event will take place on Friday October 10 at Centrepiece Melbourne.

Advocacy to Action: Policy. Investment. Power.

Across the world, we’re seeing unprecedented investment in women’s sports - clubs, sponsors, and leagues betting big and creating seismic shifts. Australia has been a leader in moments and advocacy, but the challenge now is to sustain that energy locally: translating global momentum into feasible, scalable actions that fit our context.

This breakfast is about how policy cements long-term equity, how investment (whether financial, structural, or cultural) drives growth, and how power, from voices to leadership, ensures women’s sport remains a national agenda item.

It’s about keeping the movement alive not just through big dollars, but through smart, collective action.

"It’s safe to say women’s sport is finally seeing the cut-through that we knew could occur. Across our conversations, we will explore how we capitalise on this momentum and continue to push growth and engagement across all women’s sport to achieve the ultimate goal of equity for women and girls." - WSA President Helena Wurf

We're delighted to welcome Sarah Styles, former Director for the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, David Culbert, dual Olympian and sports broadcaster, Victoria Denholm, CEO and Director of Wollemi Capital Group, and Tayla Vlaeminck, Australian Cricketer. Our panel will be facilitated by Rana Hussain, founder of Good. Human.

We'll also welcome Mackenzie Little, resident Doctor and Olympic Javelin thrower, and Rachel Howard, General Manager of adidas Pacific for a special fireside chat, hosted by Sam D'Souza.

Past Events

The 2024 event, sponsored by Victoria University, was held at Centrepiece at Olympic Park for the first time in its history.

The new venue was a stunning backdrop amongst the sporting precinct in Melbourne. Our theme ‘Women’s stories hit differently’ saw an array of talent take the stage including dual Olympian Jemima Montag, Paralympian Emily Petricola, radio personality Jo Stanley, sports journalist Sarah Burt, President of Athletics Australia Jane Flemming and Victoria University researcher Clare Hanlon.

The annual event which saw over 500 guests celebrated the year that has been for women in sport. WSA launched its new strategic initiatives for 2025-2028 and celebrated outgoing Directors Iain Roy, Demelza Fellowes and Isaak Dury.
