about us.

Celebrating 20 years of advocacy.
Our Mission

To influence systemic and cultural change in Australian sport through advocacy, amplification and action.

Our Story

Women Sport Australia is committed to improving the sporting landscape for women and girls so that stereotypes and gender inequality no longer exists.

We believe that every Australian woman and girl who wants to engage in sport, should have that opportunity. We lead the change to achieve fairness, inclusivity, and the right for every woman and girl to pursue her passion for sport without judgment, limitations or barriers.

Whether at a local ground or in an Olympic stadium, on the sidelines or in the boardroom, our goal is to level the playing field and deliver equity for women and girls.

We pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable sport sector by bringing together like-minded individuals, organisations and communities. Forging connections, fostering collaborations, and creating opportunities for women and girls to thrive and excel in all areas of sport.

For us, the most impressive sporting results have nothing to do with the score, but in changing the mindset of all Australians.

Our Organisation

Women Sport Australia Inc (WSA) is the peak national advocacy body for women and girls in sport in Australia.

WSA is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organisation, incorporated in July 2005. Initially known as the Australian Womensport and Recreation Association (AWRA), it was rebranded to become Women Sport Australia in 2017. We are located across Australia, with a desire to have WSA specific touch points in every major city.

Our organisation is driven by an 11-person Board of Directors each with specialities that contribute greatly to governance, strategic direction and operations of WSA.
