Women in Sport breakfast.

The Women in Sport Breakfast is Australia's biggest celebratory event championing equity for women and girls.

Women have been proving they are making a huge difference across the sport sector. Our Aussie female Olympians dominated the medal count at the Paris 2024 Olympics along with similar statistics for other countries such as Canada and the US. The Matildas continue to draw attention and engagement with an incredible 14 consecutive sell out home match record. Internationally we saw a record-breaking ownership deal that saw Angel City FC (NSWL) valued at $US250 million and the WNBA secured a $US2.2billion broadcast deal off the back of the Caitlin Clark effect.

"It’s safe to say women’s sport is finally seeing the cut-through that we knew could occur. Across our conversations, we will explore how we capitalise on this momentum and continue to push growth and engagement across all women’s sport to achieve the ultimate goal of equity for women and girls." - WSA President Helena Wurf

In 2024, we were delighted to welcome an incredible panel to Centrepiece, Melbourne Park, with Jo Stanley, Jemima Montag, Dr Claire Hanlon, Emily Petricola, Sarah Burt and Jane Flemming.

Past Events

The 2024 event, sponsored by Victoria University, was held at Centrepiece at Olympic Park for the first time in its history.

The new venue was a stunning backdrop amongst the sporting precinct in Melbourne. Our theme ‘Women’s stories hit differently’ saw an array of talent take the stage including dual Olympian Jemima Montag, Paralympian Emily Petricola, radio personality Jo Stanley, sports journalist Sarah Burt, President of Athletics Australia Jane Flemming and Victoria University researcher Clare Hanlon.

The annual event which saw over 500 guests celebrated the year that has been for women in sport. WSA launched its new strategic initiatives for 2025-2028 and celebrated outgoing Directors Iain Roy, Demelza Fellowes and Isaak Dury.
