Support women in sport as tax time approaches

Women Sport Australia (WSA) is seeking your financial support via a tax-deductible donation through the Australian Sports Foundation portal to help continue the revolution in women’s sport.

As the national peak not-for- profit advocacy body for women in sport, WSA fearlessly fights for gender pay equity, a fair living wage for all female athletes, equal media coverage and equal access to sports facilities, stadiums and amenities for women and girls as players and supporters.

We applaud the national sporting codes that are now staging women’s leagues and competitions. But female athletes continue to be underpaid and poorly supported off the field and women employed across the sports industry remain under represented in leadership, administrative and management roles.

WSA promotes and supports women in the sports sector via our:

  • Mentoring Program – Over the last three years WSA’s signature program has helped hundreds of women in middle management in sport to accelerate their careers and boost their confidence and presentation skills with face-to- face mentoring and e-learning opportunities;
  • Workshops – WSA’s Leadership Development Workshops assist women working in local government, national and state sporting organisations and women's agencies across Australia to improve their leadership and management skills;
  • Advocacy – When women in sport are discriminated against WSA is at the forefront, advocating for change via direct lobbying of government, sporting organisations and through the media. WSA is the independent body the media turns to when seeking comment on women-in-sport issues;
  • Social media – WSA’s Facebook and Twitter feed is updated daily with breaking news that engages and informs thousands of dedicated followers who rely on WSA to keep them up to date with hot-button issues impacting women in sport.

While we are very grateful for the support of our patron the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), WSA receives no government or outside funding. We run our programs, front-line campaigns, lobbying and social media with the help of 11 volunteer board directors who take time out of their own work schedules and money out of their own pockets because they believe women in sport deserve a fair go and a better deal.

With the end of financial year approaching, we are therefore asking for your financial support via a tax-deductible donation to continue the fight for all women across all sport.

It’s easy to donate. Here’s the link, just follow the prompts: https://asf.org.au/projects/women-sport-australia/
