AWRA’s working year began with a resounding victory when Federal Sports Minister Sussan Ley and the
Australian Sports Commission wrote to national sports organisations (NSO’s) about a proposal to make
gender neutral travel policies for senior major championships a condition of investment by the ASC in a
sport. Gender-neutral travel policies for national teams and athletes is an issue AWRA has campaigned on
since the London 2012 Olympics when the women's basketball team flew economy to London and the men
went business. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-02-03/gender-neutral-travel-policies-a-must-for-sportsbodies-

From the President’s Desk:
If we think that women in sport is standing still, then think again. The following update of what’s happening around the traps shows just how much is being achieved. Some of the highlights include this year’s Queens Birthday honours list. Each year I am equally surprised by the awardees’ remarkable work and the unsung heroines who are not nominated. We all have a responsibility to make sure that we support each other in nominating the achievements of our colleagues. Congratulations to all the awardees a thoroughly deserved list of amazing sports leaders.
